Hi everybody!
After a few days trying to get used to the (hectic!) rhythm at school and taking care of a sick child (Keth had an ear infection, then gastricl flu, and then another ear infection together with a chest infection) I am finally back online to let you know that today, after five weeks, I finally solved the mystery of Samoht...
On the first two-three days at school I used a worksheet with several grades in Elementary where they had to colour a little man called Jorge. During the first three days I did not have time to file students' work (I was too busy planning lessons and making sure I was in the right classroom - I move around a lot!). As a result, after three days I ended up with a nice pile of worksheets to sort out and file.
Everything was going fine until I came across a worksheet by a student called Samoht. Since the school where I work is very international the student's name did not surprise me, even though I had never heard it before. I went through the list of Elementary students and I just could not find anybody called Samoht. I even checked the list of students who do not take Spanish, thinking that maybe he came to my class by mistake. No luck - Samoht was nowhere to be found.
Today I was working with a group of Grade 1 students and I noticed that the colouring style of one of them was very similar to my mystery student. I approached him, and I read the name on his worksheet: Thomas.
He was the mystery student. On the first day, he wrote his name back to front.
:)
